Graffiti Can Turn a Drab Wall into a Beautiful Piece of Art

Graffiti is an art form, plain and simple. And the world seems to agree with me in 2010 - look at how popular graffiti canvas prints are for example.

It is sad that for so many years it was looked at as a type of vandalism but I can certainly see why that original view came about. When graffiti started I don't think all of it was about the artistic side, nor is that the case today, but given the chance artists can produce some beautiful if not profound pieces on the side of the street for all to see. One artist I read about painted a monthly death toll of US soldiers in Iraq on the side of the building. Simple yet very profound. Others can create a scene that looks so real you fell like you could step right into it. Even the unique type of font that has come form the graffiti artists turns writing your name on a wall into creating an art piece out of your name. With new techniques and products modern day graffiti truly is an art form.
